Chris Daughtry speaks about the Grammys and Idol

CHRIS DAUGHTRY and his band are nominated in four categories at the Grammy Awards this weekend, but Chris tells TV Guide that one of those categories definitely means more to him that the others: Best Rock Album. Chris says, "That's what we are, and I want people to realize that. [It may be] rock with pop sensibility, [but] we are a rock band."In one Grammy category, Daughtry are actually competing against BON JOVI, with whom they'll tour later this month. When asked if he and JON BON JOVI will duet on "Wanted: Dead or Alive" during the tour, Chris says, "You bet your ass we will!"When asked to comment on the fact that contestants will be allowed to play instruments on this season of American Idol, Chris said, "I think [they] should be forced to write a song on the show and perform it. That'd bring some new life to the show. Audiences would take it more seriously."

Celebs Sign eBay 'Toilet Tattoos' to Fight Cancer
here's a headline you don't read every day.
"Toilet Tattoos" are removable, reusable and (get your giggles out now) wipe-clean toilet lid decorations that offer a variety of patterns and themes.
On Feb. 11, 70 Toilet Tattoos autographed by celebrities will go up for sale on eBay, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Famous folk lending their "John Hancocks" to these "john covers" include Joe Montegna, Chris Daughtry, Ernest Borgnine and John Salley.

Chris Daughtry to appear on Sevendust CD?

According to The Pulse of Radio, SEVENDUST has apparently enlisted Chris Daughtry and ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy to contribute guest vocals to the band's new album, "Hope and Sorrow". The names of the tracks featuring the singers have not yet been revealed. The 11-song effort, which was originally given the working title of "The 7th Chapter", is due out on April 1. The new CD will follow up "Alpha", which came out in March of 2007.

Daughtry to headline Harley Concerts

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Daughtry, ZZ Top, the Black Crowes and Buddy Guy, among others, will perform as part of Harley-Davidson's 105th anniversary, scheduled for Aug. 29-30 across various Milwaukee venues.
Springsteen & The E Street Band will play Aug. 30 at Roadhouse at the Lakefront, located at Veterans Park in Milwaukee. Tickets for that concert, only available to 105th Anniversary Celebration ticket-holders, go on sale April 5 for $40 (plus $2.50 for shipping/handling) via Harley-Davidson's Web site.
An itinerary wasn't available at deadline, but Daughtry, ZZ Top, the Black Crowes, Buddy Guy, Blue Oyster Cult, the Crave, Dr. John, Peter Frampton, Puddle of Mudd, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Garry Allan, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, War, Blind Melon, Cameo, Dierks Bentley, Foghat and Los Lonely Boys are scheduled to perform between Aug. 29-30 at Milwaukee's Summerfest grounds.
Ticket packages for the concert series at Summerfest grounds are currently on sale for $60 (plus $5 for tax, shipping/handling). The package includes a two-day pass, an event guide, a special anniversary wristband, a key chain and other Harley-related items.
Meanwhile, the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) recently announced a 25th anniversary concert, scheduled to feature performances by Aerosmith and Kid
Rock at Milwaukee's Miller Park on Aug. 28. Tickets, which go on sale March 12, are only be available to H.O.G. members.

"American Idol" is hitting a few sour notes these days, from the now all-too-familiar audition shows to stale memories of contestant Sanjaya Malakar, man of many hairstyles.
Astronomical ratings for the singing competition have taken a hit: "Idol" began its seventh season last week with 33 million viewers — 4 million fewer than last season, according to Nielsen's preliminary numbers.
And there's another problem: Past champs aren't having an "Idol"-like presence in record stores. Few have had the instant success of the first idol, Kelly Clarkson, whose career has been a template for "American Idol" winners to follow, although country star Carrie Underwood, America's darling in Season 4, has come close.
Chris Daughtry, a runner-up, is now a budding rock prince with last year's best-selling CD, "Daughtry."
Some also-rans have done well. Clay Aiken overshadowed winner Ruben Studdard, and Jennifer Hudson won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for her singing role in the movie "Dreamgirls." "

The frontman for the biggest-selling band of '07 talks about American Idol, songwriting, and how he learned to listen

 In a small room backstage at Nashville, Tennessee’s historic Ryman Auditorium, Chris Daughtry sits quietly, dashing off his Christmas cards. It’s five days before the holiday, and a couple hours before he’ll bound onto the Ryman’s venerated stage, one which he imagines is still baptized by “Johnny Cash’s spit.” Daughtry sets aside the pile of Christmas cards, and rolls up the sleeve of his T-shirt to admire a fresh, tender-looking tattoo on his right bicep.
“My wife’s so good that I actually had her tattooed on me yesterday,” Daughtry says, showing off a buxom blonde pinup girl with a pair of angel wings. “Those are actually her wings, if you tickle her just right.”
It took Chris Daughtry eight hours to get that tattoo, and it’s taken him years to learn how to be a good husband, he says. In light of the massive success that plucked the American Idol contestant from his Greensboro, North Carolina hometown and sent him around the world, this past year has been particularly challenging, and he discusses it with the same plain-spokenness that informs his songs.
“I used to call [my wife] and just quickly throw in the towel,” Daughtry says. “But I’ve found that the less I say and the more I actually listen to her, and just be there without actually being there, is the best thing I can do. As a man, I always feel like I need to say something. Sometimes I have to stop myself because all I want to do is call and tell her about how much awesome stuff is going on in my life, and, you know, her day is sucking hard. I could write a book on it, I’m serious."
